With Great Thanks

We've had many special guests stay with us, but two in particular were so kind as to express their experience at Magothy Manor better than I could ever say - and you know who you are...

Dear Emily & Bill,

It's always a surprise, after such a magical experience as this weekend was, to leaf through a guest book and realize how many others have shared their own magic before us, and how many will continue to share it afterwards.  Somehow, all future visitors seem like interlopers, because you have made each of us feel like the most special of all.  That is a gift.

The home, too, is its own special gift.  As is the river.  There is a soul to this place which has always been here, and which you and Bill have enhanced with your presence and all the lovely furnishings and objects d'art so carefully chosen for just the right spot.

The things we will remember most:

  • Climbing the stairs to look out at the river.
  • Reading in the window seat.
  • Sleeping in the luxury of a featherbed.
  • Sitting on the edge of the dock under a full moon, listening to the night sounds and talking of our future.
  • lingering over delicious breakfasts with you first, and then Bill.
  • Waking up to the sound of rain softly falling.
  • Having an impromptu candlelit picnic dinner on your back porch at dusk.
  • The lovely scents of all your special soaps - almond, mango? garden smells.
  • Learning to play chess.
  • Gazing in mirrors that people long gone also gazed in.
  • The quiet comfort of a deep contented breath out.

Thank you for all your warmth and generous hospitality.  We truly hope our paths will cross again.  And to all others who may read this, Enjoy !!
